Man muss hier darauf achten, das Diphthong nicht mit dem Hiat zu verwechseln. Ein Diphthong hat man nur dann, wenn der Doppellaut innerhalb einer Silbe ist. Also, Mie-te, aber nicht Kar-ri-e-re.

Beachte, dass in dem Duden Eintrag steht: „Gebrauch: landschaftlich“. Es muss in der tat „wir müssen da entlang“ heißen. „Lang ist's her“ ist eine poetische Floskel (wp); somit ist da auch die Rede von: „es ist schon lange her“.
