Gibt es Rotwelsch mittlerweile auch in der gehobenen Sprache? Ich nicht, denn das Wort Geseire ist für mich nur Geseire und macht die (richtige) Botschaft zunichte. |

Did German borrow any words from Old Prussian? @hippietrail OK, if you did mean the old language, then I guess the answer is "no", for the reasons I mentioned. The Kingdom of Prussia spoke High German (and French), baltic languages were not integrated into it (apart from regional dialects) |

Did German borrow any words from Old Prussian? @hippietrail no, what I meant is: the link points to the baltic language, but now you say you are not talking about the baltic language. Which one is it? |

Did German borrow any words from Old Prussian? @Hippietrail but you added the link to the baltic language yourself, didn't you? |

Did German borrow any words from Old Prussian? Ich würd's auch gern wissen, aber nach dieser Tabelle sieht's nicht wirklich so aus, da kommt mir gar nichts bekannt vor. |

“Toi, toi, toi” – was genau bedeutet dieser Ausdruck? Man könnte es mit knock on wood übersetzen Ja und viele klopfen dabei auch tatsächlich auf Holz. (schauder) |

Wann ist die Eindeutschung neuer Lehnworte sachgemäß, wann nicht? Nicht nur der Name, auch da Prinzip des Duck-Typing sind mit der Deutschen Kultur einfach unvereinbar. Hier muss doch ales seine Schublade haben in der es steckt :-) |

Is there a German sound that is similarly difficult for English speakers as th is for German speakers? Tja, I guess that tells you how close to speaking Saxon we are here in Berlin :-) |
