What's the meaning of “Deine Mudda”? related: What is the origin of “your mother” as an answer to any question? |

Spelling to pronunciation "I'm happy with something that works 99.9% of the time" nope - it's only let's say 75%. My son just learned reading in school and when reading words, he does not know yet, there is a significant chance he uses a wrong pronounciation. |

Polite ways to swear when something went completely wrong? "Mist!" reminds me of Bernd das Brot, it can't be offense at all. |

Distinction “prüfen” vs. “überprüfen” @Tim: It's taken from the spec of a database API. I wasn't involved in choosing these words :-) The automatic check against an xsd is an option to be switched on or off when importing. "können Sie" sounds more like semi auto or manually. Besides, it sounds quite common for a German technical documentation. |

Wörterbücher für Fachsprache / Dictionaries for terminology in specific domains I didn't mean common german technical terms. I meant terms, that are commonly used in a specific domain eg. terms used in the domain of (multimedia databases|sensor network routing) |

Höfliche Anrede mit zweiter Person Plural: »Ihr solltet zugeben, dass Ihr ganz einfach Angst habt.« @user unkown: Als Höflichkeitsform der 3. Person Singular (sehr selten, veraltet) wird Ihr immer großgeschrieben. |

Wörterbücher für Fachsprache / Dictionaries for terminology in specific domains The glossary of "Handbuch für Fachinformatiker" only uses well-known terms, most of them with an own entry in the German wikipedia. Some of them aren't even well explained: "Race Condition Wettstreit mehrerer Prozesse um eine Systemressource." |
