Spelling to pronunciation "I'm happy with something that works 99.9% of the time" nope - it's only let's say 75%. My son just learned reading in school and when reading words, he does not know yet, there is a significant chance he uses a wrong pronounciation. |

Distinction “prüfen” vs. “überprüfen” @Tim: It's taken from the spec of a database API. I wasn't involved in choosing these words :-) The automatic check against an xsd is an option to be switched on or off when importing. "können Sie" sounds more like semi auto or manually. Besides, it sounds quite common for a German technical documentation. |

Some of them aren't even well explained: "Race Condition Wettstreit mehrerer Prozesse um eine Systemressource." |

Wörterbücher für Fachsprache / Dictionaries for terminology in specific domains In meinem Bereich finde ich in der englischen Wikipedia meist nur Stubs oder Weiterleitungen auf unschärfere Begriffe - oft aber auch gar nichts. Es kommt leider nur selten vor, daß der englische Begriff dann auch einen entsprechenden deutschen Eintrag hat. |

Herkunft der Redewendung “Das Gegenteil von 'gut', ist 'gut gemeint'.” @user unknown bei diesem konkreten Problem kann ich dir zwar nicht ganz folgen (ob die Maßnahmen überhaupt gut gemeint sind, oder bloß die Lage des anderen verschlechtern sollen) abstrahiert gesehen aber zustimmen: Person M erklärt P zum Problem und tut T. Das Ergebnis wird als Fehlschlag anerkannt und die Tat T als immerhin gut gemeint dargestellt. |
