comment How to say “Class of” in German?
You're right. Haven't thought of that possibility because for me (and others I talked to) it's the year when one started. But yes, Carstens comment nails it ;)

"Jahrgang 2019" would also work.

comment Asking ethnicity in German?
@PMF: I see. But imo it's the same with surnames. If one married a native to the country or if it's the second generation one might have a perfectly normal surname for this country.

comment Asking ethnicity in German?
You're right. I've never asked anybody except a close friend. But the name is not always an indicator e.g. the name of a former schoolmate was Markus and his ethnicity was Egyptian. One of my friends Ethnicity is Italy/South Africa and his name is Philip ;)

comment Ist „ka“ ein österreichisches „kein“?
Es ist aber auf keinen Fall ein reines Wiener Dialekt-Wort. Ich lebe in der Steiermark und auch hier is der Gebrauch von "ka/kan/kane" in aller Munde.

comment Translation of “I would be lying if I said that …”
Your translation is correct. But it's "wegen der kommenden Prüfung" instead of "über die kommende Prüfung".

comment Umgangssprache für «on second thought»
Neben "obwohl" benutze ich auch oft "andererseits".
