comment For how many years do Germans study English at school?
Thanks Hubert, I stand corrected. For me, probably as well as many adults, it was 3rd grade, but looks like it has changed since.

comment machen sollen werden soll?
Ich würde ganz einfach "machen werde" schreiben; das "dann" drückt bereits eindeutig aus, dass das voranstehende vorher passieren muss.

@OttoV. OK. I had to wait for a German to confirm that the same applies to Germany.

comment What is the meaning of “zuverlässiger”?
Excatly. They use the word "zuverlässig" because a tourist, booking his winter holidays in a skiing resort, relies on that snow.

comment How to sign a document without accepting the ‘informational small print’?
Generally speaking, an AGB cannot force itself into effectivity. For that reason, an AGB saying "just by opening the envelope, you have already agreed to accept this document" is worthless. For any kind of legal binding to become effective, you need both parties to indicate consent. A signature with a reservation clause does not indicate consent, on the contrary, it indicates refusal. No AGB clause can effectively say "refusal means consent". Dislaimer: IANAL

I doubt that those AGB clauses are enforceable.

Here in Austria, English as school subject ususally starts at 3rd grade (age 8 or 9) and stays till the end of school, i.e. age 18 or 19. It's not uncommon to get some English courses in kindergarden, too.

Er schaut auf jene herab, die unter ihm stehen. this makes sense even in a purely topographical point of view ;-)

comment Was ist der Unterschied zwischen „Ankleiden“ and „Bekleiden“?
senegrom: I agree with you, but this usage of "bekleiden" is rather uncommon - at least here in Vienna, it's more common to say "ich ziehe noch schnell was an" than "ich bekleide mich noch schnell".

comment Differences between “vorgehen” and “vorangehen” in the sense of “move forward”
Wie so oft entzieht sich auch hier der alltägliche Sprachgebrauch einer absolut gültigen Definition. Möglicherweise gibt es da auch regionale Unterschiede, ich bin aus Wien.
