Pronunciation of musical notes OT: Geses is not F. "Ces-Es-Ges" is a C-flat major chord. "Ces-It-Gesses" is a reduced C-flat major chord. Since F does not belong to the key of C-flat major key, "Ces-It-F" is just a collection of sounds. Enharmonic equivalents are good. But there are instruments beyond the piano, that differentiate between pitches like Dis and Es. They are diffent strings and pedals on the harp. This differnetiation makes modern (non-classical) pieces like J.Williams STAR WARS Suite playable on the harp. So it makes sense, even if it might be not obvious. |

“Telefon” verhält sich zu “telefonisch” wie “E-Mail” zu …? Ich benutze einen tragbaren Fernsprecher und kein "Händi", weshalb "fernmündlich" für mich völlig in Ordnung ist. Leider enthält die 'Antwort' keinen Bezug zur Frage nach der E-Mail Kommunikation. |

“denn” vs. “dann” @Emanuel:Probably too strange, yes. But I am shirty about constructs as that I am cited. One could say "Ich hvae keine Ahnung (davon)". But this short term: <some question><"Keine Ahnung!"> is annyoing. Again: the question suggests me an origin for this construct. That's not anlgicism as you can find it in Wikipedia, but I feel a strong influence. |

“denn” vs. “dann” 0x6d64: Formerly I felt this "Was das soll? Keine Ahnung!" like a poor formed word garbage, the speaker was obviuosly unable to build a sentence. Now, Gigilis question suggests a probably origin: "No idea". Therefore I think that this ugly construct is built with influence from the English language that comes to us mostly from amarican sources. This influence is ment with "Amerikanismus". |

“denn” vs. “dann” I have noticed this "Keine Ahnung" recently. It sounds ugly and I recommend to avoid this. Thanks to this question I realized tha it is an 'Amerikanimus' where a phrase is taken literally. But this is no translation but only some words taken from dictionary. Next time I would here "Sie sind willkommen" instead of "Gerne" orde "Bitte sehr". Grrr. |

Ist irgendwo nachzuschlagen, mit welchem Adjektiv ein Substantiv “gemessen” wird (ist eine Geschwindigkeit hoch oder groß oder beides)? @Em1 "rasante Geschwindigkeit" halte ich für falsch, eher "rasante Fahrt". Als physikalische Einheit wird eine Geschwindigkeit eher hoch oder groß sein. |

What is the difference between “wie” and “was” in a certain context? @Em1 An even worse translation I regret to here often is "Für was ist das?". I fear we loose a lot of the German constructs that makes the language what it is, altough I know that it eveolves permanently. |
