comment What is the difference between “scheinbar” and “anscheinend”?
No. As an extreme proponent of descriptive grammar, I agree with @RegDwight. If thousands upon thousands of people are doing it "wrong", then we are just seeing a language growing. Meanings change over time; this is one example. Rather, it should be noted that there are multiple meanings to the same word in current usage.

comment Modal verbs: preterite or perfect?
Hmm, so it was a faulty observation. Thanks for the input!

comment Modal verbs: preterite or perfect?
I am not a native speaker by any means - I am just a beginner - but I have hardly seen perfect modal verbs in real world. That might be my limited experience there, but I noticed it independently a few days back.

comment Can I start to make rudimentary sentences in German after a week worth of exposure to German?
Just to complete the circle, it was impossible. I thought I spoke German. But it mostly a pidgin kind of language limited to me only. I myself cannot understand the sentences I wrote back then. :D

Ja ist diese Frage meine größte Dummheit an dieser Seite. Glücklicherweise war die reale Frage sinnvoll.

@Wrzlprmft Ja, ich sehe ich jetzt. Ich schwöre aber, dass es war nicht da wann ich diese Frage gestellt hatte. Deswegen scheint es alle ziemlich sinnlos. :D

comment Explanation of the prefix “er”
I was always told that I should always and always try to connect the er- verb with the meaning of root verb. The er- one would be specific as well as somehow more fancy. It works. When I am in doubt, I always see where the focus is and depending on it use the verb. It works, I would say, 60% of the time? Though the remaining time I am not even sure the word exists or not. :D

comment How rude is “Quatsch!”?
Hmm. I used to watch a German show and they used to say "Quatsch" at least twice every episode.
