  • I saw this again. The part that confused me was the "elektronischer Schaltungen" which is Genitiv. I didn't catch it was Genitiv. Thank you.

    @ChanKim: It is a Genitivattribut or Possessivattribut. The word Basteln (the tinkering) is a noun. The phrase »das Basteln elektronischer Schaltungen« (the tinkering of electronic circuits = electronic circuits' tinkering) uses exactly the same grammatical pattern as »die Augen junger Frauen« (the eyes of young women = young women's eyes). In English you can use either a construction with the word "of" or a construction that uses possessive case. The corresponding German case for attributes that express possession is genitive case.

  • @ChanKim: Genitiv exists in many languages, among them also the Korean language. The case clitic 의 marks the genitive case in Korean, and it expresses possession like the s that is attached to the end of words in German or English. For example: 젊은 여성의 눈 = Young women's eyes. Or 전자 회로의 생성 = The tinkering of electronic circuits. (I guess you speak Korean since you live in the center of South Korea according to your user profile and because your home page is Korean).
