Which kind of Mittel is die Redemittel? Does it exist in singular?

Redemittel (also: sprachliche Mittel) is both singular and plural. It derives from Mittel as in means.

Er benutzt ein sprachliches Mittel

Er benutzt viele sprachliche Mittel
