I have heard the following line in the TV series Dark:

Kontaktieren die Zentrale von Vermisstenstelle.

Literally, "Vermisstenstelle" means "missed positions". I assume that it means the "missing people"? Is there a reason why it uses "Stelle"? What positions the noun refers to?
