Feb 15, 2016 at 11:09 | comment | added | Carsten S | @OddDev, das habe ich verstanden, ich dachte nur, „Totschläger“ könnte trotzdem von Interesse sein.
Feb 15, 2016 at 11:06 | comment | added | OddDev | @CarstenS No, I meant to say, that a "murderer" is something else than a killer. A murder is someone who found guilty for murdering. A killer is just someone who killed a human being. That's the difference between a doctor, soldier etc. and the Dexter-like weirdo^^
Feb 15, 2016 at 10:57 | comment | added | Carsten S | @OddDev in that context there is “Totschläger” for someone who unlawfully kills someone but is not a murderer. Still not what you are looking for, I know.

Feb 15, 2016 at 9:08 | comment | added | Kilian Foth | German doesn't have a wide selection of actor nouns for killing. It does have a wide variety of nouns for the act of killing: Mord, Totschlag, fahrlässige Tötung, unterlassene Hilfeleistung mit Todesfolge etc. You might be able to make use of those somehow.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:56 | comment | added | Chieron | Okay, I didn't think of compound words.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:39 | comment | added | hiergiltdiestfu | @Chieron: Also there's Bärentöter for strong rifles. Learned that from Karl May.
Feb 15, 2016 at 8:34 | comment | added | chirlu | @Chieron: The compound Drachentöter exists. There is also Totmacher (title of a famous film).

Feb 15, 2016 at 8:22 | comment | added | Chieron | Attentäter for the person performing an assasination, Henker for an executioner. But I'm just drawing blanks for the soldier. I've never even heard Töter.
